POWER OF CHOICE

We decide who we listen to, where we go to, who we associate with, what we do, how we live, et cetera. It's our God-given right and privilege. We must not let others supplant our free will, not even in the guise of religion, because God will not even do that. He instructs us or leads us on what to do and we reap the consequences of our choice to obey or disobey. So, even if we follow anyone, it must be because we know they can and will lead us aright, or we are directed by God to do so, assuming we have submitted our wills to the will of God. But we should never be forced or coerced against our wills.
On the flip side, this awesome right brings with it enormous responsibility. It's a tremendous power that we must be responsible and mature enough to handle. We must have developed the capacity to wield it responsibly. Because we will be judged according to the choices we make, good or bad.

Truth be told, the freer we are externally or from others, the more under control we should be internally or under God or some form of sound spiritual authority. Christians must submit to God and to one another in the fear of God. We must never use our freedom as an excuse for evil. We must also not usurp the God-given power of choice and the free will of others. We must interact with people in the fear of God. We must treat people as we treat ourselves, honoring and loving others as we honor and love ourselves. We must cultivate the capacity for self control, able to manage our own wills and make the right choices. This we can only fully achieve by help of the Spirit of God, as we walk in the Spirit and as we mature spiritually; for the fruit of the Spirit is self control, the ability to manage our selves aright and to be in control of our senses because we are submitted to God on a personal level.
Thus, as we mature spiritually and develop this spiritual fruit or fruit of the Spirit, we'll learn to freely, gladly and lovingly submit our wills to God's will. This is the high point of our love for God, when we willingly do His will and obey Him from our hearts, not under duress or coercion; for God loves a cheerful giver. And that's where the true blessing is. We must love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. True love is loyalty at its best. Selah.
