REALITY CHECK


Christ Jesus our Lord was hungry.

Paul was hungry. We can be hungry.

Christ experienced grief. Yes, He wept.

He felt hunger and thirst. He ate and drank.

He was tired. He slept like a baby.

He was even once a baby. He was carried.

He taught. He loved. He gave. He prayed. 

He was angry, happy, sad, even impressed.

He experienced all of these different things.

He shared in our fundamental humanity.

Compassionately and purposefully.

He suffered. He was accused falsely.

He was betrayed, abandoned, crucified.

But He was not hopeless and unbelieving.

He was not depressed or disillusioned with God.

He was thankful, and He embodied the Truth.

He expressed God, as He was full of The Spirit.

He came to save His people from their sins.

That they should have everlasting life.

Prosperity gospel is a false doctrine.

You will remember this in eternity.

THE ETHICAL BEAST

A beast is an animal, especially a large or dangerous four-footed one. A wild animal. A beast is also a domestic animal, especially a bovine (meaning, relating to cattle) farm animal. Basic dictionary definitions. So, cattle are beasts.  A lion is a beast.  An eagle is a beast. A serpent is a beast.  Yes, a serpent. Let’s talk about that. Especially as Christ used it as some sort of behavioral reference and exemplar for us. He pointedly said: “Be wise as the serpent.” Oops!  “But,” He continued, “be harmless as the dove.” Okies! DESTROY THIS TEMPLE

  "Destroy this sanctuary, and in three days I will raise it up."   The words of the Lord Jesus to the dangerous and conniving religious leaders of His day who sought to kill Him and thus to silence the Truth of Yahweh (YHWH). He said this in reply to their demand for a miraculous sign in query of the authority He had to chase the money changers and merchandise sellers from the Temple just after He had cleared the Temple of these economic profiteering activities in the (falsely) religious space.  This same Christ who is the Truth gave His Word and Spirit of Truth to His Apostles who, as He had done, also bore witness to the Truth even with their lives and passed the same Truth down to the Church, which is the Body of Christ, who is the Only Head of His One Body.
