MARRIAGE AND CHURCH

The Church really has no business marrying people.

I have never seen anywhere in the Holy Bible where any apostle of Jesus Christ, or any holy prophet of old, or any priest in the Holy Temple, or any Jewish rabbi or teacher in any of the synagogues, or any pastor, bishop or overseer in any of the assemblies of Early Church believers joined a man and woman in marriage.

Check the Old and New Testament, then come and tell me. I stand corrected. We are all learning.

Yes, marriage was instituted by God as other natural and social processes such as working, interacting, dressing, eating, sleeping, mating, etc.

Yet, it only became a religious sacrament when Church and State were commingled in an unholy sociopolitical and socioeconomic union of men.

Marriage is essentially a social contract with rich spiritual signiicance and symbolism: the organic connection and meaningful union between Christ and His Church depicting loving leadership and supportive submission.

A beautiful intimacy and life-enhancing system.

A marriage “ceremony” is cultural and customary.

It could also be statutory and legally provided for.

Basically, it is enacted between two consenting natural adults with the blessing of their parents or representatives of their parents and in the presence of witnesses including family members, friends and other relevant persons, such as a licensed officiant or marriage registrar in the case of the statutory marriage which is according to the English law.

Marriage is one of the many great blessings of life.

A spouse should really make life more enjoyable.

Having children, albeit a huge responsibility whose socioeconomic implication many do not fully grasp, is a great privilege and blessing of this present life.

However, being married or not is not any indication of divine approval, nor is it a yardstick of measuring success in this life, nor yet is it a determination of one’s effective spirituality or status in eternity.
