DISCERN
Parents, Pastors, Mentors and Leaders,
If your child, flock, mentee or follower is expressing some deep concern, or is questioning something or someone, or doesn’t feel right about going ahead with a decision whether as serious as marriage or as mundane as going to school on a particular day, or warns about a looming danger either with certain persons in the household, neighborhood, school or church or anywhere, you would do well to pay close attention and take necessary precaution to avoid regrets over avoidable unwanted situations later.
I clearly remember the life-altering story by a close relative of a little child waking up early one morning to strangely tell a mother that she didn’t want to go to school that day but the mother shoved it aside as mere child talk and quickly prepared everything as usual and took the child to school, only for the child to be shockingly and mysteriously kidnapped on that particular day and that mother never saw the child again until she passed from great sorrow.
I also clearly remember a young man I know who heard the word “STOP” in his spirit when he was planning to get married to a young lady but when he told this to his parents and elders, they pushed it aside as normal youthful fear and urged him to go ahead with the wedding, only for him to marry who turned out to become the enemy of his soul that brought him great deep torment and many untold suffering, attacks and strange occurrences and abandoned him in a way that made it difficult for him to even remarry peacefully yet she refused to return—it was a big and painful setup from the kingdom of darkness; and the prior warning was ignored.
This is not about giving in to their uninformed choices or indulging their whims and caprices.
This is about discernment and deep listening.
Please let’s engage meaningfully and not always sweep things under the carpet or relegate people who we have been called to lead or minister to.
It’s very hard especially in certain climes to see a leader or parent who takes responsibility for how things go—when they go south. Rather, we often like to only take the credit when things go well.
Let’s not always excuse ourselves by constantly accusing Satan for our oversight or negligence.
May the Lord grant us grace and understanding to truly fulfill our purpose in the lives of our people.
Peace be with us all. But watch and pray.
Your adversary is not sleeping.
À bientôt!
