ORTHODOXY AND PENTECOSTALISM
Thank God for both great movements.
ORTHODOXY
The beauty of the Orthodox Christianity is devotional coordination, doctrinal closeness to foundational truths and deeply-held convictions well-guarded by sound and spiritual principles of humility, piety, simplicity, order, reverence, values, virtues, uprighness and moderation.
The pitfall however is loss of spiritual vitality or vibrancy in the seemingly sincere delusion of and preoccupation with rituals and religious complex shy of spiritual fervor and heartfelt engagement in personalized and intimate prayer, worship and fellowship due to over-standardization of devotional routines that may degenerate into rigidity.
Good for preserving age-old treasures of traditions but with the slippery slope or downside of loss or lack of true spiritual connection and functional insight or illumination.
PENTECOSTALISM
The beauty of the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement is the openness to the power of the Holy Spirit and the great spiritual utility in not despising or downplaying the divers gifts and operations of the Spirit among believers.
The pitfall however is the risk and real occurrence of the unconscious departure from faithfulness to the Text of Scripture (contextual/intended meaning of the Author) as well as the excessive/chaotic engaging and interruption or interference of the flesh (human mind and emotions) in spiritual life and service, which leads to the subtle or subliminal supplanting of the true work of the Spirit aptly adjudged to be in alignment with the Scripture.
