POEM: WHO ARE YOU?

WHO ARE YOU?

I know you are black ‘n’ beautiful – or
You may be white ‘n’ wonderful,
But who are you?

I can see your smiling, beaming face.
I hear your stifled, excited chuckle.
All the marvelous talk and fine dressing.

Calculated gestures and memorized recitations,
Civilized mannerisms and impressive felicitations,
And all what you have going for you,

But still I ask, who are you?
